MARCH VOLUNTEER EVENT SUCCESS - CENTERS FOR WOMEN IN TRANSITION

The Baker Build is back!!  This project was started in 2020 and put on hold due to Covid.  The Center for Women in Transition (CWIT) needed 2 apartments' kitchens and bathrooms remodeled, and MOWIT organized tools, materials, and volunteers to do the project from March 7 - 13, 2021. "It was a huge success" says MOWIT President and project organizer Beth Barton.  "We are very grateful for the chance to help our tradeswomen build their skills, meet other tradeswomen, and for women in the community to learn about the skilled trades.  AND we were able to help CWIT with some much needed remodeling.  It was a win-win!"

  • Over 50 volunteers did all the work of the project, all but two were women

  • 21 Skilled Tradeswomen contributed their skills, time, and tools to the work

  • 12 WOMEN came to learn about the skilled trades

  • We completely remodeled 2 kitchens and 2 bathrooms in 8 days!
